North American Labour Market Report – June 2015 Edition

This report is primarily focused on the North American labour market, giving an overview of key trends, insights and news articles surrounding this segment.

The US saw an increase in jobs in June. The Bureau of Labor Statistics announced US employment increased by 223,000 jobs in June, with the unemployment rate reaching 5.3% representing a 0.2% decrease. The retail trade represented 33,000 of those jobs. The top ranked cities for entry-level jobs requiring a Bachelor’s degree in the US include New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Houston and Atlanta.

The Canadian employment rate sits steady at 6.8% with 59,000 jobs added according to May’s Statistics Canada Labour Force Survey. Since the beginning of 2015, the Canadian employment gains have averaged 20,500 per month.
